Professional Fitness Instructor offers several levels
of training and certification preparation courses, along with continuing
education credit workshops, required by certified fitness professionals in order
to maintain their respective certifications. These courses currently
include:
- The PFIT Personal Fitness Trainer course and
PFIT CPFT certification establish the foundation of theoretical and practical
information for health, fitness, and performance programs. Deconditioned,
never conditioned, and/or "I want to move on" population and clients benefit
from the training. Included topics are anatomy, physiology, nutrition,
evaluation techniques, movement and strength techniques, business skills, and
various applications for training programming. The curriculum is
composed of nationally recognized standards and information, and is for
personal use and in preparation for the PFIT CPFT certification and other
nationally recognized accepted certifications, including the ACE, ACSM, NASM,
and NSCA exams.
- The PFIT Rehabilitative Exercise Specialist course
and the PFIT RES-C certification are the next level of certification for the
Certified Personal Fitness Trainer. Theoretical and practical orthopedic
topics are presented for application to 80% of your new or existing clients,
in particular those who have experienced and acute or chronic injury.
The clients of the PFIT RES-C have been released by their physician to
continue an exercise program on their own. The RES-certified trainer is
qualified to understand the basic rehabilitation process as well as
limitations and contraindications of programs needed to maintain or enhance
the client's fitness level. Advanced training in the rehabilitation
process, program development, implementation and progression is provided,
along with focus in key areas of injury: knee, shoulder, spine, hip,
ankle, foot and elbow.
- The PFIT Exercise & Sports
Nutrition Specialist course and
the PFIT ESNS certification are new for 2005. As with the RES training
course, the ESNS is one of the next steps for CPFT. Theoretical and
practical training regarding nutrition and supplementation are covered.
This certificate of enhanced qualification (CEQ) in exercise and sports
nutrition training
is designed to better educate personal trainers and their clients in the
application and correlation of proper nutrition and supplementation to a
fitness program.
- Credit (CEC) workshops to
enable Certified Personal Fitness Trainers and Group Fitness Instructors,
Rehabilitative Exercise Specialists, Advanced Human
Performance Specialists, and Exercise & Sports Nutrition Specialists, along with other fitness professionals, to
acquire Continuing Education Credit (CEC) hours required by the various
certification organizations, including ACE, ACIM, ACSM, NASM, and NSCA.
The workshops also enable fitness professionals and other interested persons
to keep current on industry knowledge and skill applications or techniques.
- Pilates Plus
Instructor Training & Mat Certification - Learn the Principles of
Joseph Pilates' exercise program. Topics include fundamental Mat Exercises
and how to execute them properly; Basic Anatomy related to Pilates; The use
of props in teaching Pilates; Recognizing different posture types and
learning neutral spine & proper alignment; How to use Pilates and apply it
to everything else you do and teach from Personal Training, Aerobics,
Spinning, Golf, and other related activities.
